Book Review – Ragdoll by Daniel Cole

Goodreads Synopsis:

A body is discovered with the dismembered parts of six victims stitched together like a puppet, nicknamed by the press as the ‘ragdoll’.

Assigned to the shocking case are Detective William ‘Wolf’ Fawkes, recently reinstated to the London Met, and his former partner Detective Emily Baxter.

The ‘Ragdoll Killer’ taunts the police by releasing a list of names to the media, and the dates on which he intends to murder them.

My Opinion:

From the moment Detective William ‘Wolf’ Fawkes arrived at the crime scene, across the street from where he lives, I knew this was going to be a book that was going to pull me in and not let me go.

The police have their hands full. They have a dead body that is made up of body parts from 6 different bodies. As if the police department wasn’t busy enough identifying all those body parts, a list of names surfaces and needs immediate attention. The names on the list are of living people, some known to the police department, some not. Next to each name is a date – the date they will die.

When the ragdoll body was discovered my first reaction was, “Ewwww!” I knew this was going to be one good and crazy story, unlike any other I have read before. I really like that the story was told from the perspective of several different members of the police department. Getting the perspective of so many characters about the investigation as well as their personal lives added an intriguing dimension to the book.

This debut novel by Daniel Cole is a dark, fast-paced story with moments of unexpected humor. Best of all, this is book one of the Detective William Fawkes series and I cannot wait to see what Daniel Cole has in store in his next book.

My Rating: 5/5
