Bookish Odds and Ends

My Book Haul From The “Big Book Sale”

It’s the big book sale…

At last it is here! Yesterday our local library kicked off their huge annual book sale. They take over two empty storefronts in the mall and fill them with thousands of donated books. I found some fantastic books and I decided to try my hand at doing some pretty pics to show them off to you.

These are my day one finds. Sunday is “bag day” – fill a paper bag for $5.
It is usually pretty picked over by then, but you never know.

A Hundred Summers by Beatriz Williams and
The Secret Life of Violet Grant by Beatriz Williams

Shanghai Girls by Lisa See

Major Pettigrew’s Last Stand by Helen Simonson

The Devil in the White City by Erik Larson

I started my Karin Slaughter collection!
(I have lots of holes, but it’s a start)

Kisscut (Grant County, #2)

Indelible (Grant County, #4)

Beyond Reach (Grant County, #6)

Triptych (Will Trent, #1)

Undone (Will Trent, #3)

The Kept Women (Will Trent, #8)

I decided that I will be doing the A to Z author challenge next year. So in preparation for that  I scoured the more challenging letters and found a book for the letter Q and V.

Every Last One by Anna Quindlen
Around the World in Eighty Days by Jules Verne

Have you read any of these books?

Feel free to follow me on Goodreads, Twitter, and/or Facebook.

Happy Reading!

  1. I’m so jealous, we don’t have library book sales here . I would be like a child on Christmas day in there. I’ve just discovered Karin Slaughter and I’m also looking out for her titles, I don’t know how I missed her . Her latest The Good Daughter is very good.

I’m reading The Good Daughter in the next couple of weeks. It will be my first Karin Slaughter book. I’ve heard so many great things about them I decided to start my collection. I’m really looking forward to reading them!

  2. I also haven’t read any Slaughter books, but I have Good Daughter and The Kept Woman to start sometime soon!! Hoping you like it! and some books you found!

  3. That is an awesome sale!!! My local library just had a sale recently and I was really excited for it, but ended up walking out with nothing. And it was all set up in a teeny tiny room where only one person could really fit between tables at a time haha.

  4. I love our library sales!! It is like Christmas day and my birthday all at once!! Great finds, especially the Karin Slaughter books! Woohoo!! You know that I am a KS junkie, and I’m so happy you are finally getting a chance to read them. I so hope you love them as much as I do! I could reread them again and again….well, you get the idea!! Hope you are well 🙂

      1. That’s fantastic!! I think I bought most of her books when I started reading them at a used bookstore. Not as good a deal as a library sale, but better than almost $20 a book, lol. That adds up way too fast when you want the entire series! I really hope you enjoy them! The Good Daughter is the perfect start to her books!
