I am very excited to be joining the 2018 TBR Pile Challenge, hosted by Adam @ Roof Beam Reader!
When I first saw this challenge I knew instantly that I would be joining in. I’ve been trying to make an effort to read more books on my backlist and this challenge is just the motivation I need to help keep me on track.
In a nut shell…
The Goal: To read 12 books, that have been waiting patiently in the wings, in 12 months.
To Enter: Choose 12 previously unread books, plus two alternatives, that have a publication date of 2016 or earlier.
Dates: You have until January 15th, 2018 to post your “Master List” and link it to Adam@Roof Beam Reader.
*Please check out the full details here.
The books, in no particular order…
- A Hundred Summers by Beatriz Williams (2013)
- The Book Thief by Markus Zusak (2006)
- The Time Between by Karen White (2013)
- The Constant Soldier by William Ryan (2016)
- A Darker Shade of Magic by V.E. Schwab (2015) (DNF)
- Blindsighted by Karin Slaughter (2001)
- The Camel Club by David Baldacci (2005)
- Night by Elie Wiesel (1960)
- Behind Closed Doors by B.A. Paris (2016)
- Deep Down Dead by Steph Broadribb (2016)
- The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern (2011)
- Bird Box by Josh Malerman (2014)
The Alternates…
- Dark Matter by Blake Crouch (2016)
- Daisy in Chains by Sharon Bolton (2016)
Let’s get social…
Dark Matter and Daisy in Chains are both brilliant, you might want to move them into the original 12! ADSOM is on my list of definites to read next year – I need a good fantasy series in my life and I’ve heard good things about that one. 🙂

Great challenge – I’ve been doing the one on Goodreads to read anything bought before end of 2016 this year (failed) but have signed up for next year too.

Great Challenge. I plan to join in. The Book Thief is one of my favourite books of all time and I also enjoyed Behind Closed Doors. I hope that you will enjoy the two and the rest of the books on your list. Happy holidays.

Oh, The Book Thief is so special. I’ve read it a few times & taught it once. Night, too, is wonderful. I think my favorite on this list, though, is The Night Circus. I read it when it first came out, and I still think about it all the time…. mostly wondering WHEN the movie will be made! Good luck!

Looks like I picked some great books! I’m even more excited to read The Night Circus after hearing that you are still thinking about it. That’s a sign of a really great read! I’m so glad I found this challenge, it’s a great motivation to read some of these older titles.

A great selection. I’ve always wanted to read A Tree Grows in Brooklyn and now, after reading your post, I will get to it!

Hope the challenge is going well. I’ve managed two off my list so that’s already more progress than I ever imagined. The only trouble is choosing what to read next I find, especially if you have a great list like you do.
