I DID IT!! I successfully completed my first 24in48 readathon!
I managed to read three books and start a fourth.
My first book was Thirteen by Steve Cavanagh. I love this series and was saving this book for the readathon because I knew I would love it. I am happy to say it did not disappoint!
Next up I planned on reading The Summer Wives by Beatriz Williams. I started this book and quickly realized this was not going to work for me. There were three time periods and a lot of characters to keep track of. This is not a winning combination for me as a readathon selection so I put it aside.
My second book became Behind Closed Doors by B.A. Paris. Although really creepy I really enjoyed this book. There were just a handful of characters, but most of the story revolved around Jack and Grace.
By now I am getting a bit fatigued so I jumped online and picked up an unexpected audio book. Where’d You Go, Bernadette by Maria Semple. Choosing this book as my third read was one of the best decisions I made. My eyes really needed a break and the audio for this book is fantastic. The story itself was OK, but I believe that the audio helped to lift it up.
Last, but not least, I did have some remaining time for a fourth book so I returned to The Summer Wives. I have every intention of reading this book, but my placement of it in the readathon was off.
This was not an easy challenge! Being the book nerd that I am I made myself an hourly schedule haha. I just couldn’t wrap my brain around how I would complete it without one. I ended up putting in more hours on Saturday than Sunday. This opened up a little bit of time to hit the gym on Sunday morning and attend my Zumba class. I hadn’t planned on going to the gym, but I really needed to get out and do a little jumping around. It really hit the spot!
Thank you all for your encouraging words before and during the readathon on both Twitter and Instagram. They really helped to keep me motivated and I want you to know how much I appreciate it. I’d also like to thank my family who’s never ending support means the world to me. As you can imagine I was pretty anti-social over the weekend.
I am very proud of myself and look forward to the next one!
Let’s get social…
Thank you for visiting and happy reading!

Well done, Tina! I’ve not done the 24 in 48 readathon, but I really like the format and having some flexibility around when you’re reading – might have to give this a go. Also, Thirteen is AMAZING!

It isn’t easy, so I can see why you haven’t done it yet. What was your longest time?

Great job! 24 hours of reading is amazing! So much more attainable than over the course of just one day. I didn’t make it to 24 hours but it sure was fun!
