Book Review – Thirteen by Steve Cavanagh

Goodreads Synopsis:

They were Hollywood’s hottest power couple. They had the world at their feet. Now one of them is dead and Hollywood star Robert Solomon is charged with the brutal murder of his beautiful wife.

This is the celebrity murder trial of the century and the defense want one man on their team: con artist turned lawyer Eddie Flynn.

All the evidence points to Robert’s guilt, but as the trial begins a series of sinister incidents in the courtroom start to raise doubts in Eddie’s mind.

What if there’s more than one actor in the courtroom?

What if the killer isn’t on trial? What if the killer is on the jury?

My Opinion:

I don’t think anyone can deny that this is one of the best taglines ever! The serial killer isn’t on trial – HE’S ON THE JURY.

Eddie Flynn has been brought in just days before the trial of the century is to begin. Robert Solomon is on trail for murdering his wife (Ariella Bloom) and his chief of security (Carl Tozer). He is adamant that he didn’t do it, but all the evidence says otherwise.

This book is a bit different from the previous three. In this story we are privy to the killer’s movements, thoughts, and more. He is a man of many disguises, extremely smart, and is playing a murderous game. Frankly he is beyond crazy and needs to be caught ASAP!!

I always enjoy Eddie in the courtroom scenes, he always has a little something up his sleeve. He is quite clever and isn’t afraid to dive into his past, all in the name of proving his client innocent.

I really enjoyed seeing a couple of returning characters in this book, most notably Harper. This time around she a private investigator. She is tough and determined, perfect for tracking down a serial killer. I hope to see more of her in future installments in this series.

I’ve said it before, but I will say it again. This is a fantastic series with a very likable, smart, determined, and creative character! I highly recommend starting from book one in this series, all in the name of character development.
