It's Monday! What Are You Reading?

It’s Monday! What Are You Reading? (December 9)

It’s Monday! What Are You Reading? is a weekly post to share what you recently finished reading, what you’re currently reading, and what you plan on reading next. This is a terrific meme that allows you to meet fellow bookworms and find new books to add to your ever-growing reading wish list.
This weekly post is hosted by Kathryn at Book Date.

Surgery Update…

Happy Monday bookworms! I am nearing the finish line, so I thought it was time for another health update. It has been five and a half weeks since surgery and I am doing pretty well, not perfect, but much better! My vision has returned, thank goodness! My left arm range of motion is still not good, but that can be taken care of with some PT. My neck range of motion is getting better, but I still cannot drive myself and feel safe on the road. Numbness remains and there is still a bit of swelling, but all in all I am doing pretty well.

Phase two of this whole thing has started. I am on a low iodine diet in preparation for radioiodine therapy later this week. Long story short – I will be headed to the hospital three days in a row this week for a slew of different things. On day three I am having a scan that will show what thyroid and thyroid cancer cells are left, receive radioiodine treatment that will kill them off and hopefully that will be that. After I receive this treatment I have to go into isolation for 7 days. Yup, 7 days!! I will sequester myself in our mater bedroom/bathroom and hopefully do a lot of reading in this time period. There has to be an upside right?! When all of this is done, I pray I will able to call myself cancer free.

Bookish news…

I am very excited to announce that I will be kicking off the NetGalley and Edelweiss Reading Challenge this week! I will be posting the sign-up for it on Wednesday! My timing, with all this doctor stuff this week, may be a bit challenging, but I think it will be a good distraction to help take my mind off things.

What I Read Last Week…

Nine Elms (Kate Marshall, #1) by Robert Bryndza – I loved this mystery/thriller, 5 stars for sure! Look for my full review later this week.

My Lovely Wife by Samantha Downing – Well now…that was an entertaining audiobook! This book gives a whole new meaning to date night. It’s an odd, disturbing story and yet I could not stop listening because I just had to know  how it would all end!

Currently Reading…

Big Lies in a Small Town by Diane Chamberlain – This is my next book and with any luck I will start it today!

Currently Listening…

The Guardians by John Grisham – I just bareley started this one, but I am liking what I have heard so far.

Up Next…

The Other People by C.J. Tudor

  1. Yesterday evening I started The Assistant by SK Tremayne, out on 26 Dec. From page 1 I was hooked, and stayed reading till well past my bedtime ☹️. Psychological thriller. What does your virtual assistant know about you?

  2. Tina!! I’ve not been regularly posting or reading posts because of so much going on in my life so I’d missed that you were ill. I’m sorry to hear it but I’m happy to know you’re receiving the treatment you need. 😊 You’re probably going to be a reading machine during the isolation time. 😉 You’ll be in my thoughts. ❤️

  3. Thanks for the update! I hope you have access to WiFi during isolation! I read a fascinating book over the weekend…. The Girl With Seven Names ….. have you heard of it? It’s a memoir and the writing is mediocre but the story is compelling and unputdownable!
We’ll be thinking of you during isolation and praying it’s successful and that you can proudly claim your survivor badge!

  4. I haven’t been here on your blog for a long time and didn’t know about your health issue and I wish you the very best for it and send my loving hope to you across the miles. Know we are with you when you are in isolation, I guess you can still go online if you are able for it. All the best. I have Diane Chamberlain’s book in my reading queue. I just saw Elizabeth from Silver’s Reviews giving it a bit wow.

  5. Good luck this week, Tina. Thinking of you. 💗
So happy to hear you loved Nine Elms although I haven’t read a book by Robert Bryndza yet that wasn’t good. I’m currently reading Good Girls Lie by J.T. Ellison.

  6. Tina, I am so behind on reading blogs, that I did not know what you were going through. I pray that all works out as you hope and that you will be cancer free. 🤗
I am listening to The Christmas Shopaholic and reading Where I Belong by Alan Doyle and Death by Proxy for a blog tour.
